$300 Down the Drain!! August 27, 2010 Roy E. DeMeo, Jr. (BRONXVILLE, NY United States) This AquaPac is terrible! I purchased two for my son and I to use in Aruba, and I had no problems. Moisture built up inside my son's AquaPac after using it in the pool, and it did not leak. We even inserted little packets that were supposed to absorb the condensation that did not do a thing! As a result, my son's new iPhone 4 refuses to work or turn on. Do not buy this product because it will not be able to protect whatever precious device you have inside it when in a humid area.
Water droplets inside after twenty minutes at the beach August 25, 2010 Elwood P. Dowd (Carrboro, NC United States) I took good care of it, and it did work to keep my phone MOSTLY dry. But, after I saw water droplets inside the case shortly after its second visit to the water began, I decided that it might work better as just a rain cover. It did not do its job in the mild NC surf.
good case, but does not float August 16, 2010 Tritonia diomedea (Walnut Creek, CA, USA) The list of features on the Amazon site starts by claiming it floats in water. But I inserted my iPhone and it sank rapidly in both freshwater and saltwater. I added a piece of closed-cell foam with my phone and it floats now. Other than that, the case worked as advertised.
Although the material is a bit tacky, I did not have a lot of trouble getting my phone in and out of the case. The material is not very thick, which of course is important to allow the touch screen to work. But I worry that it would be easy to puncture if you were not careful. The latch works easily and seems secure. I have only used it a few times.
I would suggest that Aquapac include a few dessicant packets along with the case to keep he humidity down inside the case. They could also include some closed-cell foam to insert with the phone to ensure that the case and phone floats if dropped. (the foam might also wrap around the phone to allow it to slip in and out more easily).
One can use the phone normally, and listening and talking worked fine. No one on the other side of a call could tell that my phone was inside a plastic bag. I'd buy it again.
Great when it doesn't leak August 12, 2010 Nesper Had the aquapac for a year in pools, lakes, even beach. Worked fine even at several foot depth. Went into a swimming pool with my iphone, with sealed aquapac, and in 30 minutes it was full of water. No idea why, case was locked and I tested for leaks afterwards with no problem. So the aquapac is great when it works, but it just takes one leak to ruin your iphone.
Good for kayaking August 4, 2010 starstuff (At home in the world) I've used this item to protect my iPhone on a kayak trip, and it did the job perfectly. It kept water from splashing on the phone. It was good to have the peace of mind that if I were to capsize, my phone would not be ruined. I had tested the case in the tub before the trip, and it is completely waterproof as advertised.
I have observed that the touch screen will not respond when the phone is underwater in the case, so taking underwater pictures using the iPhone is not going to work. It does work well for taking pictures above the water.
