It works well as an arm band and as a protective case. It's made a very thin material which keeps it from getting caught on gym equipment.

The hook & loop Velcro is very weak and easily comes off while working out. This is very annoying. See the attached picture to see how I attached a snap button to fix that problem.
The other issue is that the plastic covering over the iPod controls makes it very difficult to adjust the volume while running.
It adjusts to hold the Nike+ iPod sensor which is a nice feature.
I've never had any issues with sweat getting into the case.

This armband works well with the 3G nano. It does have a hard time staying velcoed if you have a tiny arm. I have to leave it a little loose to keep it on all the way.
