| Customer Reviews: Best case so far... February 10, 2008 techsavvy (toodanghot USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
In general, I would not recommend this case. If you can mod it to your needs, then it is good stock to hack with.
First, it has a very good strong belt clip. That is essential! Well made, but the inner 'Smart Card' pockets are totally useless, and should have not even been considered in the design. They don't interfere with it's use, so it's not a problem.
Problems: First, I don't understand why this case was designed with so much thickness space inside. Tou could almost put 2 iPhones in it! Poor engineering there. I've thinned it some, by squeezing the edges and clamping them to close some of that gap. (Drawback; I now have extra length and width to deal with.) I also cut out the magnets, and replaced them with velcro, after having read that some iPhones have shown damage from magnetic fields. (nanoelectronics- that makes sense.)
Still, this case is as good as I have found for my preferences. Small as possible, strong and reliable.
My first case was a Griffin slip-in case, and it fit the iPhone like a glove. It was actually perfect, with full protection of the phone, thin as possible, yet very well designed and made. However, the iPhone IS a slippery little sucker, and one day I dropped it on a tiled concrete floor. I was lucky, no damage! I will not drop it again. To help ensure that, I cut thin strips of 'eGrip' rubberized material, and put on each side of the iPhone. Grippy! The drawback is, it will not slide in/out of the Griffin case anymore...
So, this Incipio case is the next best case I've found. The exposed corners work well to help lift the iPhone out enough to grab it from the top. Not as elegant or intuitive as the Griffin case was, but it works for me, and thats what I need, safety first!
Three stars, losing two for 'very' poor design engineering. I don't expect many folks would be able to make the mods I did, without the technical materials or skills. I'm a tech geek, so modifying comes easy to me.
